Therapy is a process that reveals who you are, identifies your strengths, and enables you to make the changes you want in your life. Sessions are currently conducted by online video-chat. As soon as it’s safe, we’ll return to in-person sessions.
We offer counseling for many life situations, disorders, and illnesses. We’ve created a short list below, but we also understand that people are layered and that treating each layer is important. This list is not meant to be comprehensive.
Addiction and substance use, anxiety and stress, anger, coping skills, death, depression, grief, family conflict, life transitions, men’s issues, identity issues, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and emotional regulation & intelligence.
What to expect in therapy
If this is your first time seeking therapy, it’s likely that you’re feeling some anxiety about the uncertainty of what therapy is actually like. We’ve all seen various depictions of therapy sessions on television, some compelling and others horrifying. At Crow City Counseling, we provide a style of therapy that helps you feel comfortable to ensure you are able to effectively work toward meeting your goals. That’s not to say that it won’t be difficult at times, as change comes with a certain level of discomfort. Therapy is the perfect space to learn to welcome into our lives the type of discomfort that comes with change, vulnerability, and calculated risk taking.
In therapy, like most things in life, you tend to get out what you’re willing to put in. Typically, you will meet with your counselor for 50-minute sessions on a weekly basis, which is quite a small fraction of your time each week. In sessions you will learn and discuss different practices and skills that have the potential to improve your life and sense of well-being. To give yourself the best possible chance at a successful outcome it helps to practice those skills during your time between sessions.
It helps to keep a journal.
Cost per session
55-minute session: $160
We offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments which can be discussed by phone or during an initial session.
We accept Wellmark BlueCross BlueShield in Iowa.
We also offer integrated out-of-network billing. If you’re not sure what your insurance policy covers for out-of-network benefits, or how much your deductible is, we’re happy to help you find out.
